Extraordinary tour of National Chamber Choir 'Madrigal - Marin Constantin' in Spain, at invitation of Romanian Cultural Institute
The National Chamber Choir 'Madrigal - Marin Constantin', conducted by Anna Ungureanu, will perform an extraordinary tour in Spain from 24 to 30 November, with concerts in three prestigious cultural venues in Europe: the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, Almudena Cathedral and Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
The programme will include sacred music, carols, as well as a special repertoire dedicated to babies, recommended for early emotional and cognitive development, the Press Office of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) reported on Monday in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
'Wherever it goes, the Madrigal Choir is welcomed with enthusiasm and passion. Together with the Romanian Cultural Institute, it has performed in Croatia, in Zagreb, in the United States of America, in Washington, New York, Chicago and Seattle, in Peru, in Lima and Cusco, as well as at Machu Picchu, in Belgium and Luxembourg, in the Republic of Moldova, in Chisinau, in Kazakhstan, in Astana and Otrar, and in Japan, in Osaka and Yokohama. With a record of over 4,000 concerts, Madrigal is an ambassador of creative and supportive humanity,' ICR President Liviu Jicman was quoted as saying in the release.
During the tour, ICR Madrid will open the commemorative exhibition 'Marin Constantin 100', on display at its headquarters from 27 November 2025 to 15 January 2026, featuring paintings, sculptures, stage costumes and items from the choir's visual history, as a legacy left by the maestro whose name it bears.
The Madrigal Choir will also film a new music video at the Roman Theatre in Merida, an ancient amphitheatre with a history of over two millennia, part of the UNESCO heritage.
The events are dedicated to Romania's National Day and mark the start of a series of cultural activities that will celebrate, in 2026, 145 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Spain and 20 years of activity of ICR Madrid.
Access to the concerts is free, with prior registration.
The tour is organised by the National Chamber Choir 'Madrigal - Marin Constantin' and the Ministry of Culture, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute, through ICR Madrid, the Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of Spain, the Romanian General Consulate in Madrid and the Romanian General Consulate in Seville.
The event in Spain is part of the anniversary programme 'Marin Constantin 100', through which the Madrigal Choir celebrates 100 years since the birth of its founder, conductor and composer Marin Constantin, with a wide series of projects and cultural events taking place throughout 2025.
