Eugen Tomac: I will present a team of specialists to Romanian Parliament, a technical government, not a political one
The designated Prime Minister, Eugen Tomac, declared on Thursday at Cotroceni that he would propose to the Legislature 'a team of specialists', and not politicians.
'I wish to find openness and a sincere dialogue from all democratic and pro-Western political forces in Parliament, in order to invest a government that will have a single agenda: the common good of the citizens of Romania. I understand the political stakes, they are legitimate and natural in a democratic state, but I know that Romania now needs national projects carried to completion and clear objectives, which is why I will present to the Romanian Parliament a team of specialists, a technical government, not a political one,' Tomac said.
He emphasized the idea of responsibility.
'I say responsibility because it is the foundation on which everything is built. Only in this way will investments continue to come to our country, reforms will bring results and state institutions will regain the trust of the citizens they work for. In this spirit, I assume in good faith this mission of proposing to the country a professional government team that will work for the citizens,' Tomac specified.
At the same time, he highlighted that the Executive will maintain the European direction, consolidating the Strategic Partnership with the USA and the transatlantic relationship.
The designated Prime Minister also emphasized that 'only a strong economy can support the well-being that Romanian citizens deserve.'
Thus, PNRR funds, OECD accession 'are objectives that already have a public resonance, but they can only be achieved if we are serious and credible as a state,' said Tomac.
He also declared that guaranteeing the security of the country and its citizens remains a fundamental obligation of the Romanian state.
'No prosperity is possible in its absence. We have a war on the border and we see the impact. I assure you, Mr. President, that the team that I will form and for which I will ask for the vote of Parliament will act with maximum responsibility towards the public budget and will respect absolutely all the commitments assumed by Romania in relation to our international partners and, obviously, the citizen will be placed at the center of every effort,' Eugen Tomac conveyed.AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Ghita, editing by: Antonia Nita;EN - writing by: Catalin Cristian Trandafir)
