Over 6,000 medical professionals to attend 'Carol Davila' University Congress in Bucharest
More than 6,000 specialists from Romania and abroad - including doctors, pharmacists, residents, PhD students and researchers - are expected to attend the 13th edition of the 'Carol Davila' University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMFCD) Congress, opening this Thursday at the Palace of Parliament, the organisers inform in a press release.
Organisers describe the event as the largest medical research gathering in Romania, featuring distinguished speakers from countries such as the United States, Japan, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, and Germany. Those unable to attend in person will have access to session recordings for two weeks via the congress platform, www.congresumf.ro, as part of the university's continuing medical education initiative.
UMFCD Rector Viorel Jinga is quoted in the release as saying that the congress promotes professional excellence and medical progress, as it has become a benchmark for innovation and interdisciplinary exchange. He added that this year's edition focuses on progress, innovation and professional responsibility in a rapidly evolving global context.
Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Innovation, Simona Ruta, highlighted that the event will showcase how experimental medicine advances translate into personalised diagnostic and treatment solutions. Key university research projects in genomic medicine and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, funded by national and EU sources, will also be presented.
The opening ceremony will feature a commemorative film honouring renowned physiologist and pharmacologist Professor Daniel Danielopolu, marking 70 years since his passing.
On Friday, honorary doctorates will be awarded to Roxana Stegaroiu (Japan) and Konstantinos Sapalidis (Greece).
As in previous years, the congress will include the 'Young Researcher Competition,' recognising the best original scientific studies by authors under 35 across various medical disciplines.
