Bucharest block blast/286 people receive psychological counselling, 66 accomodated in hotels
A total of 286 people have received psychological assessment and counselling following the explosion that occurred on Friday in a block of flats on Calea Rahovei in Sector 5, Bucharest, while sixty-six individuals are currently being accommodated in hotels, including three children and eleven elderly people, interim General Mayor of the Capital Stelian Bujduveanu announced on Saturday.
In a Facebook post, he said that 411 accommodation places are available for anyone in need of support, that teams have carried out 200 psychological counselling sessions, and that three families have been assisted in replacing lost documents.
According to Bujduveanu, the helpline 021.9524 has received 118 calls requesting information and guidance.
He mentioned that teams from the Bucharest City Hall and the General Directorate of Social Assistance of the Municipality of Bucharest (DGASMB) are continuing to assess the affected homes in order to identify needs and provide swift and tailored solutions.
Bujduveanu also announced that all evacuees are receiving accommodation, counselling, medical support and logistical assistance in recovering essential documents and belongings.
'We've made it through the first night after the explosion. We are on the ground, alongside the people. Teams from the City Hall and DGASMB remain on site, providing direct support to those affected by the explosion in Rahova. It was a difficult night, but no one was left alone,' said Stelian Bujduveanu.
He mentioned that the support line 021.9524 remains permanently active for anyone in need of help, information, or accommodation, and encouraged those in need to call for immediate assistance or to be directed to the command centre.
According to a statement from the Municipality, Stelian Bujduveanu will be present on Saturday in the area where the explosion occurred on Calea Rahovei, together with representatives of the institutions involved in managing the emergency situation, to monitor and assess the interventions.
