Enescu Festival: Royal London Philharmonic Orchestra to perform under Petrenko's baton

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London (RPO conducted by famous Vasily Petrenko, will perform this evening at the Palace Hall in Bucharest, as part of the George Enescu International Music Festival.

The soloist of the evening will be pianist Alexandre Kantorow.

The playbill will include the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 Op. 46 by Edvard Grieg, Concerto no. 2 in A major S.125 by Franz Liszt and Symphony no. 1 in E flat major Op. 13 by George Enescu.

* Academy of St Martin in the Fields will perform this afternoon on the stages of the Romanian Athenaeum.

They are led by Jan Lisiecki (musical conducting, piano) and Tomo Keller.

The playbill will include: Memorials for flute and 8 instruments by Pierre Boulez; Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor Op. 37 by Ludwig van Beethoven; Dixtuor a vents in D major Op. 14 by George Enescu and Symphony no. 1 in D major Op. 25, Classical by Sergei Prokofiev.

* The favourite music of the great Gustav Klimt can be heard for the second consecutive evening in the festival at MINA - Museum of New Immersive Art, during the show 'Klimt meets Bosendorfer - Ver Sacrum by Alexandra Silocea.'

* Late morning at the Romanian Athenaeum, music lovers are expected for a royal performance of the Between Worlds Ensemble conducted by Avi Avital (musical direction, mandolin).

The 27th edition of the George Enescu International Music Festival takes place in Bucharest around Romania throughout September 21. This year's theme is anniversaries - 'Celebrations' - celebrating the 70th death anniversary of the great composer.
