Romania lines up 5 ski jumpers at summer Grand Prix competition in Rasnov
Romania will line up 5 athletes - 3 women and 2 men, at the FIS Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix taking place in Rasnov, September 13 - 14, the Romanian Ski Biathlon Federation said in a release.
Federation president Puiu Gaspar said that for Romanian ski jumpers, the Rasnov tournament is a new opportunity to compete in front of their home audience.
'We are happy that Rasnov is once again hosting the Summer Grand Prix. It is a benchmark event for this sport, and the fact that Romania is on the world ski jumping map proves the recognition of the efforts made by the Romanian Ski Biathlon Federation and our traditional partners: Rasnov City Hall, the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, the National Agency for Sports and the Brasov County Council. For Romanian athletes, this Grand Prix tournament is an excellent opportunity to compete at home, in front of the public that encourages them. Our team is made up of valuable athletes who have worked hard and deserve to be cheered on. We are waiting for all sports lovers to come to Rasnov and be part of this ski jumping celebration. Admission is free, and the atmosphere will be extraordinary,' Puiu Gaspar said.
The FIS Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix in Rasnov is the third stage of the international circuit, after Courchevel (France) and Wisla (Poland). The next stops after Romania are in Val di Fiemme (Italy), Hinzenbach (Austria) and Klingenthal (Germany).
85 athletes registered for the Rasnov Summer Grand Prix tournament - 34 women from 12 countries, and 51 men from 16 countries. Among the nations present are: Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States.
