Timisoara to host first film festival in Romania and Eastern Europe dedicated to football

Image

The Druckeria Association of Timisoara Supporters is preparing the first edition of the Timisoara Football Film Festival (TMFF) for this autumn - a major event dedicated to the relationship between football, community, identity and cinema, which will be the first festival of its kind organised in Romania and in Eastern Europe.

The festival will take place in November, in the city's renovated cinemas - Cinema Timis, Studio and Victoria. Cinema Johnny ('Tarzan' editor's note) will be included in the programme only if the renovation and final acceptance of the space are completed in time, according to a press release Druckeria Association sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

Over the course of four days, TMFF will offer the public a selection of documentary and feature films, special guests, debates, workshops and a short film competition. The themes will explore stories from football that speak to identity, belonging, rebirth, conflict, supporter culture and the deep bond between teams and the cities that support them.

The festival has been submitted for funding under the 'Timisoara - Cinema Objective 2025' programme, run by the Timisoara City Projects Centre.

The project is supported by several local and national partners, including the Politehnica University of Timisoara, the Romanian Football Federation, and TVR Timisoara as the main media partner. Additionally, the organisers are in contact with the Fundazioa Athletic Club, initiators of the Thinking Football festival in Bilbao, for an exchange of ideas and resources, and to establish an international collaboration that will grow in the years to come.

Druckeria is the supporters' association of Politehnica Timisoara, active for over 15 years in supporting local football and grassroots values through community involvement. Beyond the stands, Druckeria has been engaged in numerous charitable, social, educational and cultural projects, from building a basketball court for a local school to organising temporary museum exhibitions dedicated to the history of the Politehnica Timisoara club and the Dan Paltinisanu Stadium.
