PresidentialElections2025/Electoral Authority: Information regarding operations at polling stations abroad are false, meant to create confusion

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) on Monday informed that the false information released online regarding the operations carried out in polling stations at home and abroad for the presidential elections represents 'disinformation intended to generate confusion among voters and influence their electoral choices.'
'Given the false information released online regarding the operations carried out in polling stations at home and abroad in the 2025 presidential elections, the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) draws attention to the fact that this represents disinformation intended to generate confusion among voters and influence their electoral choices. In response to this false information spread on social media platforms and to correctly inform the public, the Permanent Electoral Authority has produced a video clip presenting the main activities that the electoral office of the polling station will carry out on voting day,' a press release of the AEP reads.
According to the same source, the video clip can be viewed on the official YouTube channel of the AEP, by accessing the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKE1FZDyR6c.
The clip presents the times at which voting begins and ends on Sunday, respectively - 7.00 am and 9.00 pm - and the conditions under which the process can be extended, as well as the steps that voters must take to exercise their right to vote.
At the same time, the Permanent Electoral Authority said that it urges voters to obtain accurate information and only from official sources in order to protect themselves against manipulations that may influence their participation in the vote.
'In the current informational climate dominated by techniques and tactics aimed at spreading disinformation with the aim of undermining trust in the democratic electoral processes, the AEP emphasises the importance of correctly informing voters about their rights and responsibilities in order to strengthen the integrity and fairness of the electoral process,' the AEP also said.
The AEP also stated that all activities for the organization of the second round of the presidential elections are taking place under 'normal conditions and without interruptions', with operations being 'on schedule.'
The AEP also indicates that more information about exercising the right to vote in the 2025 presidential elections can be found on the website of the Permanent Electoral Authority, www.roaep.ro, and on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, www.mae.ro.
