Bolojan: Supporting Ukraine indirectly means supporting the peace of our country
AGERPRES special correspondent Oana Ghita reports: Supporting Ukraine actually means supporting stability at our country's borders and indirectly the peace of our country, Interim President Ilie Bolojan said on Thursday ahead of the Special European Council meeting.
He said the mandate he came with to the Brussels meeting has three pillars.
One of the pillars is 'supporting Europe's role in maintaining peace on our continent,' Bolojan underscored.
'This means developing the European pillar in NATO, so that it has a higher weight, and keeping the partnership with the U.S., for NATO to strengthen its role as guarantor of peace on our continent,' the interim president added.
The second pillar involves supporting Ukraine 'so as until peace and ceasefire is reached there are conditions for the front not to break.'
'Supporting Ukraine actually means supporting stability at our country's borders and indirectly it means supporting the peace of our country,' the interim head of state showed.
The third pillar of his mandate to Brussels, says Bolojan, involves support for defence expenditure, so that, based on the proposed facility, these expenses do not enter the deficit side, 'so we can support our national defence industry so that we consolidate this important area as well.'
