UPDATE/PSD's Ciolacu: We have a political agreement, each of the signatories understood the Romanians' message
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Monday the signing of a political agreement between the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) and the parliamentary group of national minorities to take over governance.
"We have a political agreement. Each of the signatories understood the Romanians' message from the general elections," said Ciolacu.
According to him, the coalition's objectives are to defend Romania's position in Europe and NATO, as well as to protect national identity.
"Each of the signatories of this political agreement has understood the Romanians' message from the general elections, and I believe that our duty is, first and foremost, to defend democratic values, to defend Romania's path and position in Europe and NATO, and, not least, to defend national values and identity. It will not be an easy mandate for the future government, but the expectation of the Romanians is for reforms, for transparency, for reducing budget expenditure, and the expectation of the business environment is for financial predictability and sustainability.
