UPDATE EURO 2024: Superb victory for Romania on debut, 3-0 against Ukraine
The Romanian national football team debuted with a superb victory at the European Football Championship - EURO 2024, hosted by Germany, 3-0 (1-0) against Ukraine, on Monday, at the Football Arena in Munich, in Group E.
The Romanian team achieved a historic victory, the second at the European Championship, 24 years after the previous one (3-2 with England), although they started with the second chance in this match.
Romania played a perfect tactical match and prevailed with the goals scored by Nicolae Stanciu (29), Razvan Marin (53) and Denis Dragus (57).
Romania showed determination and pragmatism, although it had lower possession (34%-66%), being superior in shots on goal (5-2).
Several supporters entered the field in the last part of the match, in min. 73 a fan of the Romanian team hugging captain Stanciu.
Yarmolenko became the first Ukrainian player to participate in four EURO editions.
Stanciu was named best player of the match by UEFA.
