Public invited to see election technology at Cotroceni Presidential Palace on weekend
The gates to the Cotroceni Presidential Palace will open to the public again, and this time it is the turn of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) to delight visitors of all ages.
From Friday to Sunday, 10:00hrs-18:00hrs, STS will conduct interactive activities for children and adults alike, an exhibition of special vehicles and special telecommunications technology, simulations of calls to the 112 emergency line, testing of applications and computer systems used in elections, cybersecurity and blockchain workshops, VR experiences, quantum key distribution networks, simulations in the virtual shooting range and much more.
Visitors will be able to discover the technology used by STS to support electoral processes and secure the functioning of essential communication and IT infrastructures used by the Romanian state.
Thus, the applications and information systems made available to the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP), the organiser of the electoral processes in Romania, will be presented, and detailed information will be provided on the technical and operational role of the Special Telecommunications Service in the organisation and conduct of the elections.
At the same time, special telecommunications equipment will be exhibited, used to secure communications and protect them in critical situations and during missions of national interest.
The public can interact directly with STS engineers and specialists, who have prepared short demonstrations and will provide explanations on how these IT&C systems work.
Another attraction will be the area dedicated to the 112 emergency service. There, the public can see, in real time, how emergency calls are answered and processed and will have the opportunity to meet the operators who act in extreme situations, in support of the citizens.
STS will also present the project of a new mobile application for emergency calls capable of taking video calls.
Another surprise is the unique experience in the virtual shooting range, one of the modern military training tools.
The little ones will have interactive workshops at booth 112, robotics games and useful tips to navigate safely online.
