Romania and the Kingdom of Morocco political - diplomatic consultations

A session of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Romania and the Kingdom of Morocco took place on Thursday in Bucharest, confirming the interest in advancing and diversifying bilateral cooperation in several areas.
The delegation of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) was led by Secretary of State for Global Affairs and Diplomatic Strategies Traian Hristea and the Moroccan delegation by Ambassador Fouad Yazourh, Director General for Bilateral Relations and Regional Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad.
According to a press release the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent on Friday, Traian Hristea highlighted the significant potential for growth in bilateral trade, which has exceeded the threshold of 1 billion dollars in the past two years.
"He reconfirmed the desire of the Romanian side to consolidate and deepen the political dialogue, as well as to advance and diversify the Romanian-Moroccan cooperation in several areas. The discussions highlighted in particular the economic-commercial, agricultural, education and research and cultural fields. The Romanian official highlighted, in this context, the importance of a better connection, on multiple levels, between Romanian and Moroccan partners, in accordance with the current realities in the two countries," the MAE said.
In his turn, Director General Fouad Yazourh confirmed the desire and interest of the Moroccan side to strengthen the dialogue with Romanian partners, evoking in this context the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, which celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2022. "He expressed increased interest in cooperation in economy, advanced technologies, agriculture, emergency management, combating organised crime and border security, higher education and scientific research and others," the release also shows.
The agenda of the consultations also included an exchange of views on issues of regional and global interest, and Secretary of State Traian Hristea presented Romania's assessments and positions on Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis caused by it and the impact of this war on the states in the region, as well as the serious global consequences.
