German Ambassador: German companies interested in investing in Romania's solar and wind energy sectors
German companies are showing growing interest in Romania's energy sector, particularly in solar and wind power, German Ambassador to Romania Angela Ganninger said at the launch conference of the third edition of the Code of Good Practice for Renewable Energy in Romania.
'Through our regular exchanges with AHK Romania, we are seeing growing and sustained interest from German companies in Romania's energy sector. In particular, solar and wind power have proved to be highly attractive areas for investment and cooperation,' Angela Ganninger said.
She stressed that Romania offers favourable natural conditions, ambitious renewable energy targets, growing investor confidence and significant opportunities for innovation and technological development.
According to the ambassador, Romania is regarded as a high-potential and strategically important market within the international business promotion programmes run by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, including due to its role in shaping the energy future of south-eastern Europe.
'German companies are interested in being key partners in Romania's transformation,' the ambassador said.
Angela Ganninger also noted that, at the beginning of this year, a German-Romanian Declaration on Energy was signed by German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katharina Reiche and former Romanian Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan. The document aims to strengthen cooperation between Germany and Romania in areas including energy security, energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The objective of the declaration is to identify common interests and projects, exchange expertise and develop cooperation as effectively as possible, the ambassador said.
She also highlighted the role of the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania), one of the event's institutional partners, in facilitating cooperation between German and Romanian companies.
'AHK Romania supports German companies entering the Romanian market while also creating opportunities for Romanian companies interested in cooperating with German partners,' Angela Ganninger explained.
The ambassador said that economic relations between Germany and Romania have a solid foundation, with German companies having been the leading foreign investors in Romania since 2006, while trade between the two countries reached 42.6 billion lei in 2025.
In her view, cooperation between Germany and Romania in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, innovation and sustainability will deepen in the period ahead.
'By combining German technology and expertise with Romania's considerable potential and ambitions, we can create sustainable economic value, strengthen Europe's energy resilience and contribute to a greener and more prosperous future for both countries and for Europe as a whole,' Angela Ganninger said.
The Romanian Photovoltaic Industry and Energy Storage Association (RPIA) and the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA) launched the third edition of the Code of Good Practice for Renewable Energy in Romania on Thursday, October 1.
