The UEFA Executive Committee on Tuesday appointed the National Arena in Bucharest City the host of the 2028 Europa League final, the Romanian Football Federation announced on its official website.

'The UEFA Executive Committee appointed today, September 15, Bucharest and the National Arena the official hosts of the 2028 UEFA Europa League Final. The decision reconfirms Romania's ability to organise sporting events of the highest continental level. After a rigorous analysis of the files submitted by the candidate federations, the forum in Nyon offered their vote of confidence to the Romanian capital city. The National Arena will once again wear the festive clothes of European football, in 2028, 16 years after the first UEFA final hosted in 2012 and after the success of hosting matches of EURO 2020 and U21 EURO in 2023.'

FRF Chairman Razvan Burleanu say that appointing Bucharest the host of a Europa League final to is a signal of confidence from UEFA.

'Bucharest hosting a Europa League final is the strongest signal of confidence from the UEFA president and my colleagues in the UEFA Executive Committee in the development strategy we have proposed for professional football at club level in Romania. It is a unique window of opportunity for professional football in our country to enter an acceleration phase in the coming years to capitalise on its full potential from a sporting, business and social point of view. The appointing of Bucharest is also a major event of sports diplomacy that will strengthen the country's brand. This victory is yet another confirmation that when there is a shared vision, professionalism and exemplary institutional collaboration, Romania can win the most important projects at international level,' said Chairman of the Romanian Football Federation Razvan Burleanu.

The FRF management promises that hosting final of the European competition in 2028 will become a reference model for Central and Eastern Europe.
