U.S. Under Secretary of War Elbridge Colby said on Tuesday that he appreciates Romania's proactive approach to burden shifting inside NATO, after a meeting at the Pentagon with Romanian national security presidential adviser Marius Lazurca.

' On July 29, I hosted Romanian National Security Advisor MariusLazurca at the Pentagon. I previewed our approach to the Europe Posture Review. I also recognized Romania's forward-leaning approach to burden-shifting. We agreed that it is time for allies to turn defense spending into real combat capability under NATO 3.0,' Colby wrote in a social media post.

Lazurca was in Washington together with Chief of Defence Gheorghita Vlad, and the Romanian delegation had meetings with American officials to deepen the commitments in the field of defence and strengthen common security at the Black Sea.

'Proud to have represented Romania in Washington last week. Our message was simple: Romania stands with the United States. We met with U.S. officials to deepen our defense commitments and strengthen our shared security on the Black Sea,' the presidential adviser wrote on Monday in a social media post.
