President Nicusor Dan will attend a meeting hosted by his Polish counterpart, Karol Nawrocki, in Jurata, Poland, on Saturday, alongside the presidents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Alar Karis, Edgars Rinkevics and Gitanas Nauseda.

According to the Presidential Administration, the meeting will focus on issues of major importance for the region, including strengthening European security in the face of multiple threats stemming from Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, instability in the Middle East and the current geopolitical changes.

Participants will also discuss the future of the European Union, which 'must effectively adapt its policies to keep pace with global challenges and developments, thereby supporting the competitiveness, development and security of its member states.'

On the occasion of the meeting, the Presidential Administration said President Nicusor Dan will stress the need to preserve European Union unity in addressing the challenges facing the continent and will reaffirm Romania's firm commitment to the unity of its allies and partners within NATO and the EU as the foundation of shared security and prosperity.

The Romanian president will also emphasise the need to strengthen deterrence and defence on NATO's Eastern Flank, both from a military perspective and by countering hybrid and cyber threats, as well as through the development of dual-use infrastructure and enhanced energy security.
