Bolojan, at inauguration of 'Nadia Comaneci' gymnastics hall: Performance is about work
Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan participated on Saturday in the inauguration of the 'GymNadia' gymnastics hall, a project resulting from the collaboration of the Tiriac and Nadia Comaneci Foundations, on which occasion he declared that performance is never just about talent, but about work, sacrifices and effort.
'I am here as a sign of respect for people who perform and performance means performance in companies, we have people here who have founded companies, founded banks, it means performance at work, performance in sports, but performance is never just about talent, it is about work, it is about sacrifices, it is about effort and people who perform work for us like locomotives, they challenge us to keep up with them and I am grateful to those who have performed and are performing in sports, in the economy, in business, in everyday life. (...) I am also here as a sign of respect for responsible people, because sometimes, in a neighborhood of blocks of flats, we see a small garden maintained by a grandmother from the block, although she is not responsible, but she makes the respective block more cohesive. We have communities small, in which people get involved in social events and help those in need,' said Bolojan.
Ilie Bolojan thanked those who performed and represented Romania abroad, mentioning several former top athletes.
'I came as a sign of respect for the people who have represented and still represent Romania with dignity, who have carried the name of our country across the globe, who have raised the tricolor on the mast, who have made us vibrate when the Romanian anthem was once sung at major championships, and I thank all our champions. I see them on one side here. We thank Nadia Comaneci for everything you have done for Romania in these years, representing our country with dignity in competitions, but also in general. (...) Usually, the people who have represented and still represent Romania with dignity are also high-performing, responsible people. Thank you Nadia Comaneci, thank you Ion Tiriac! I see Mr. Ilie Nastase, Simona Amanar, our other champions, we are grateful to you', Bolojan added.

In the context, he said that he discussed with businessman Ion Tiriac the costs of building the 'Nadia Comaneci' gym, adding that perhaps the time has come to exchange experiences with the public sector, to see the returns on investment.
The 'Nadia Comaneci' Gymnastics Hall was inaugurated on Saturday, 50 years after the historic performance at the 1976 Olympic Games, held in Montreal, when the great athlete managed to get the first 10 in the history of gymnastics.
The Ion Tiriac Foundation financed the construction of the hall in Otopeni, with construction starting in October 2025. AGERPRES(RO - writing by: Eusebi Manolache; EN - writing by: Bogdan Gabaroi)
