Romania's team secures four medals at European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics
Romania's delegation won four medals at the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), held in Cesenatico, Italy, from 12 to 18 May, the Ministry of Education and Research announced.
Silver medals were awarded to Laura Moldovan, a 12th-grade student at the 'Tudor Vianu' National College of Computer Science in Bucharest, Iulia-Ela Morariu, a 9th-grade student at the International Computer Science High School of Bucharest and Alexandra-Iulia Guiman, a 10th-grade student at the 'Tudor Vianu' National College of Computer Science in Bucharest/'Hai La Olimpiada' Centre of Excellence in Bucharest. Ilinca-Rucsandra Radu, a 9th-grade student at the National College of Iasi/County Centre of Excellence/Infogym 'Hai La Olimpiada' won a bronze medal.
A total of 251 contestants from 68 countries, including 28 from other continents, took part in the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics.
Romania's team was accompanied by representatives of the Society for Excellence and Performance in Informatics (SEPI): Veronica-Raluca Costineanu, teacher at the 'Stefan cel Mare' National College in Suceava and team leader, Livia Magureanu of JetBrains Bucharest, deputy leader, and Vlad-Alexandru Gavrila-Ionescu of Google Zurich, invited guest.
