U..S Ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, visits Craiova; his first trip to inside Romania

The U.S. Ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, paid an official visit to Craiova on Monday, his first trip inside the country after his accreditation, according to local authorities and the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest.

The visit included meetings with the President of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile, and the Mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguta Vasilescu, as well as trips to the 'Alexandru and Aristia Aman' County Library and to the Ford Otosan Craiova company.



The President of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile, stated that the discussions held with the American official focused on both the partnerships developed to date and new opportunities for collaboration.

'Together with Mayor Lia Olguta Vasilescu, we had a meeting in which we discussed the successful partnerships we have developed so far, but also new opportunities,' Cosmin Vasile reported.

In turn, Craiova Mayor Lia Olguta Vasilescu stated that the American official was presented with the economic and tourist opportunities of the municipality.

'Craiova is the first city that Ambassador Nirenberg has visited since he was accredited to Romania, and I presented him with the business opportunities for investors and the events that our city organizes to attract tourists,' Vasilescu reported.



According to the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg's visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the United States and Romania.

During the meetings with local authorities, topics related to economic growth, investment and job creation in the region were addressed.

The visit program also included a stop at Ford Otosan Craiova, the embassy emphasizing the importance of the American partnership in the Romanian automotive sector and the company's role in promoting innovation.

The American official also visited the American Corner Craiova, presented by embassy representatives as a space that facilitates the community's access to education, culture and opportunities offered by the United States of America.

During the meeting organized at the 'Alexandru si Aristia Aman' County Library, the American ambassador met with students, university professors and collaborators of the American Corner Craiova program, considered one of the most appreciated spaces dedicated to education and the exchange of ideas in the municipality.
