NATO Annual Hybrid Symposium to take place in Bucharest in October
The NATO Annual Hybrid Symposium will take place in Bucharest on 15 and 16 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informed on Thursday.
The event is the Alliance's most important forum in the area, bringing together officials and experts from member states.
The main objective of the NATO meeting in Bucharest is to coordinate response strategies to hybrid threats and strengthen collective resilience against destabilising actions targeting the Euro-Atlantic area, a MAE release sent to AGERPRES informed.
According to the MAE, hosting the symposium in Bucharest, after editions held in Helsinki, Prague and Oslo, confirms Romania's status as an expertise hub and the decision reflects the trust Romania enjoys within NATO.
'Hybrid threats know no borders and we must increase our capacity to defend ourselves, as well as the consequences for those who threaten our security in this way. Romania is becoming an important node in discussions on resilience. We are the host country of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) and, from this position, we can also facilitate strategic convergence between the EU and NATO in this area. It is essential to discuss the defence of democracy and critical infrastructure right here in Bucharest, for security solutions for the entire Alliance.
