Violinist Leonidas Kavakos performs in Bucharest on Thursday and Friday
The Orchestra of the 'George Enescu' Philharmonic, under the baton of conductor Andrei Boreyko, will perform for the first time together with violinist Leonidas Kavakos on Thursday and Friday, in two sold-out symphonic concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, the programme includes Nocturne by Giuseppe Martucci, the Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and The Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi.

Andrei Boreyko has served as music and artistic director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, principal resident conductor of the Milan Symphony Orchestra, and music director of the Artis-Naples ensemble.
During the current season, he is collaborating with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchestra at Salzburg's Grosses Festspielhaus, the Madrid Radio Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic.
Praised for his impeccable technique and exceptional musicality, Leonidas Kavakos is performing this season alongside the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the San Francisco Symphony, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
Together with the Apollon Ensemble, he has been invited to the festivals in Edinburgh, Verbier and Santander, as well as to Wigmore Hall in London and the Musikverein in Vienna.
