ForMin Toiu to highlight strategic importance of the Black Sea at the Munich Security Conference
Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu will participate from Friday to Sunday in the Munich Security Conference (MSC 2026), where she will stress the strategic importance of the Black Sea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
The Romanian delegation also includes Deputy PM and Defence Minister Radu Miruta, as well as the General Manager of the National Cyberscurity Directorate (DNSC), Dan Cimpean.
According to the MAE, Minister Toiu will present Romania's assessment and standpoint on current challenges, during a themed session of the conference, with emphasis on the strategic importance of the Black Sea the need to keep the region high on the international agenda, including after the end of the war in Ukraine. She will also highlight the importance of a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine, the risks generated by the hybrid actions of the Russian Federation and the need to counteract them, including through closer cooperation at NATO and EU level, as 'like-minded' partners.
The Romanian official will also underscore the importance of a strong transatlantic relation in addressing these challenges.
On the sidelines of the conference, Oana Toiu will hold bilateral meetings with her counterparts and political figures from the Euro-Atlantic area and beyond, and will take part in a series of events on related topics.
MSC 2026 will address current challenges in the fields of security, politics, economics, trade and technology fields.
The conference's agenda is dense, with key topics including threats to international security arising from Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and post-conflict prospects, strengthening European defence, transatlantic relation, challenges to the rules-based international order, global governance, as well as global crises and conflicts.
