Madrigal - Marin Constantin National Chamber Choir to perform in four extraordinary concerts in Japan, Aug 19 - 26
The Madrigal - Marin Constantin National Chamber Choir led by Anna Ungureanu will participate between August 19 and 26 in two of the most important international events of the year - the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and the Japan International Choral Festival taking place in Yokohama, a release informs.
The 'Madrigal in Japan 2025' tour includes four extraordinary concerts and marks 35 years since the musical ensemble's first visit to Japan under the direction of its founder, maestro Marin Constantin.
Between August 19 and 21, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Madrigal Choir will be present at Expo 2025 Osaka, with three distinct concert programs on the bill.
The three concerts are: 'Music for the Future' - a world premiere having the Expo Hall as a venue, with a repertoire by contemporary Romanian and international composers which highlights the remarkable power of the human voice, expressed through both traditional and innovative harmonies; 'Madrigal for Babies' - a unique musical experience hosted by the Romanian Pavilion, dedicated to babies (0-12 months), their parents and expectant mothers; 'The Music of the European Renaissance' - an extraordinary concert at the Romanian Pavilion, a refined selection of masterpieces of the European Renaissance, the golden age of choral music.
On August 23 the Madrigal Choir is a special guest at the Yokohama International Choral Festival, a prestigious event dedicated to choral music. The concert will take place in the Minato Mirai Hall, one of the largest and most renowned concert venues in Japan.
The 'Madrigal in Japan' tour adds to the ensemble's cultural cooperation efforts in recent years, which have included notable international appearances in the United States, Peru, Kazakhstan and several European countries, consolidating the choir's role as a cultural ambassador for Romania. The tour is part of the 'Marin Constantin 100' anniversary program, dedicated to the celebration of 100 years since the birth of the choir's founder through a series of projects dedicated to the great musician and conductor's cultural legacy.
The event is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Romanian Embassy in Japan, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tokyo.
