ForMin Hurezeanu meets Moldovan counterpart Popsoi, discusses reform in Moldova, EU accession

The minister of foreign affairs, Emil Hurezeanu, held consultations on Friday with the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popsoi, on the occasion of the latter's visit to Bucharest to participate in a series of international conferences on current regional issues, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs.
According to the same source, on this occasion, the two officials reiterated the special, particularly close relationship that exists between Romania and the Republic of , and addressed current aspects of bilateral relations, with an emphasis on ongoing joint actions and Romania's support for the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova.
The MAE informs that minister Emil Hurezeanu recalled the interest of the president-elect, Nicusor Dan, to pay one of its first visits abroad to Chisinau. He also assured his counterpart that Romania will continue to support Moldova and that the Romanian Government will strengthen its political dialogue and concrete collaboration projects with the Republic of Moldova.
'The two dignitaries also reviewed the topical issues in the regional context, dominated by security threats and hostile actions of a hybrid nature. In this context, minister Emil Hurezeanu assured that Romania will continue to stand by the Republic of Moldova in the process of reform and consolidation of its resilience, as well as in what concerns the preparations for accession to the European Union,' said the MAE.
Elements related to the internal political developments in the Republic of Moldova, in the perspective of the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, as well as the process of regulating the Transnistrian issue, were also addressed.
The Romanian minister of foreign affairs thanked the authorities in Chisinau for the smooth conduct of the presidential elections in the 64 polling stations organized by Romania's diplomatic missions on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
