The Organization of Bessarabian Students in Bucharest is holding, from Saturday to Thursday, the 18th edition of the 'Days of Basarabia' Festival, which aims to mark the 107th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania (March 27, 1918).

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Saturday, shows, film screenings, debates, as well as cultural actions will take place during the five days of the festival.

The official opening of the festival is on March 22 at Kilometer 0 of Democracy, with a 'Historical Quest.' Thus, participants will search the streets of the capital for answers to questions about the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.

On the same day, a 'Socialization Session' will be held at the FNT Youth Centre, during which those present will take part in interactive activities, artistic moments, and a raffle will also be organized.

On March 23, the Cernica Monastery will commemorate the authors of the Union of 1918, who fought for the national ideal. The event will include the laying of flowers at the graves of the members of the Country Council, as well as a religious service. Among the guests are the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania, Victor Chirila, representatives of the diplomatic mission, the delegate of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova within the Government of Romania, Vlad Gira.

On the third day, on March 25, the Student Culture House will host a screening of the Moldovan-Romanian film 'The Man Without a Lifeline,' directed by Adriana Vasilcov. The film film tells the story of the Romanian engineer Ionel Sporea, the inventor of the first modern robot for table tennis training, and is based on real events.

On March 26, a debate will be organized on the topic of 'Promoting Bessarabian culture in Romania through education,' which aims to find solutions for promoting Bessarabian culture in the Romanian educational system.

The 'Reunion of the Bessarabians' is scheduled for March 27 at the 'LondoHome' venue.

'The event aims to bring together the group of Bessarabians in Bucharest, offering a space for dialogue and socialization for all those who feel homesick. Participants will have the opportunity to meet new people, share experiences and create connections in a relaxed and friendly environment,' states the same source.

On the same evening, the festival ends with the 'Bassarabian Party Bucharest.'

The 'Days of Bessarabia' festival is a traditional event held annually by the Bessarabian Students' Organization in Bucharest.

'For 19 years, it has been gathering Bessarabians settled in the Romanian capital city and keeping alive the memory of the historic day of March 27, 1918, when the Union was achieved. The festival celebrates the cultural heritage, authentic traditions and the contribution made by the community from beyond the Prut to the diversity and beauty of Romania,' the organizers report.
