President of France Emmanuel Macron sent a personal message to Romanian Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu, congratulating him for the 'exemplary' management of the Mohamed Amra case by the Romanian Police, the Interior Ministry (MAI) informed on Friday.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, as a sign of appreciation for the professionalism and efficiency of the Romanian Police, the French counterpart, Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau, also officially thanked Catalin Predoiu, highlighting the close cooperation between the two countries in solving this complex case.

'I congratulate all the forces involved in the arrest of Mohamed Amra in Romania. I warmly thank Romania for its decisive cooperation,' said Bruno Retailleau, as quoted in the press release.

In turn, Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu congratulated the Romanian police officers who 'exemplarily managed an extremely difficult case.'

'The messages received from the highest international level once again confirm the professionalism and seriousness with which Romania fulfills its obligations within international police cooperation. Congratulations to all the police officers involved!,' Catalin Predoiu is quoted in the release as saying.

'The rapid and efficient intervention of the Romanian authorities demonstrates the institutional capacity to manage sensitive situations responsibly. This event highlights the strong relations between Romania and France in the area of security and the efficient cooperation between law enforcement structures in the two countries,' the Interior Ministry pointed out.

Mohamed Amra, for whom there were three European arrest warrants for committing crimes such as escape, murder, drug trafficking and deprivation of liberty, was captured last Saturday in Bucharest by the officers of the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Special Operations Directorate of the Romanian Police, following an European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (E.N.F.A.S.T.) operation initiated at the request of the French judicial authorities.
