The Monitoring Committee approved the standard projects that will be funded under the Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme, the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA), the Managing Authority for this cooperation programme, announced on Wednesday.

At the meeting, which took place in Bucharest, the Managing Authority within MDLPA presented the results obtained at the end of the selection process for the three project calls launched so far, namely the approval of the list of selected standard projects (worth 17.13 million euros) and those on the reserve list.

At the same time, the Monitoring Committee decided to supplement the allocations for the calls launched so far with the remaining available funds within the programme, so that a larger number of projects from the reserve list can be financed. The meeting also made decisions regarding the future call for projects, which will focus on the areas of education, good governance and border management. The applicant's guide will be published for public consultation in the near future.

Representatives of local and regional public authorities from the counties and oblasts within the programme area, representatives of national authorities from both countries and the European Commission attended the meeting, MDLPA pointed out in a press release.

The Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme is one of the cross-border cooperation programmes funded by the European Union, with a budget of 68 million euros. The programme addresses the area along the border between Romania and Ukraine and aims to develop the regions along the border in both participating states and to strengthen cooperation between them. The areas covered by the programme include health, education, tourism and culture, climate change adaptation, and border management. All information about this programme can be consulted at www.ro-ua.net.
