Bacau International Airport, 2nd place in Europe last year in terms of restoration of air connectivity
Bucharest, Jan 14 /Agerpres/ - The 'George Enescu' Bacau International Airport was, last year, in second place in Europe among airports with a traffic of up to one million passengers, in terms of 'restoration of air connectivity', the president of the Bacau County Council (CJ) Cristina Breahna-Pravat said on Tuesday.
At the same time, the Bacau airport was in first place in Romania in terms of the growth dynamics in the number of passengers.
These aspects were emphasized during a meeting that the president of the Bacau CJ had with the members of the airport's Board of Directors.
'According to the ACI Connectivity Report, the airport registered a 467% increase compared to 2023, expanding the network of direct flights from 14 to 17 destinations by the end of the year. Expanding the route network, attracting two new operators, surpassing the historical threshold of 559,000 passengers are some of the performance indicators achieved during the past year,' said Cristina Breahna-Pravat.
The official stated that investments in the airport's infrastructure continued, one of the most important being the implementation of the instrument landing system, an advanced technology that facilitates landings in difficult weather conditions.
'One of the reference moments was the successful management of the pilgrimage of the Hasidic Jews. Bacau Airport processed 115 flights dedicated to this event, facilitating the travel of over 22,000 pilgrims', recalled the president of Bacau CJ.
The vision of the airport management for this year aims to maintain high quality standards, introduce new destinations and attract new operators.
Also, the identification of ways to ensure the sustainability of the airport activity and the diversification of air transport services, the continuation of the digitalization of the processes in the BCM terminal and the modernization of the assistance facilities for people with reduced mobility are also pursued.
