UPDATE/Nicusor Dan meets US Congress delegation at NATO Summit
AGERPRES special correspondent Oana Ghita reports: President Nicusor Dan met on Tuesday with the delegation of the United States Congress at the NATO Summit.
The delegation includes Senator Jeanne Shaheen, member of the Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Mike Rounds, member of the Armed Forces Committee, Senator Christopher Coons, of the Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Dick Durbin, of the Judiciary Committee, and Mike Turner, member of the House of Representatives.

''Ahead of the NATO Summit 2026, I had a productive meeting in Ankara with a bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation. We had a very good discussion about the importance of the Transatlantic Bond and our shared priorities on the Allied agenda. We also explored concrete ways to further develop the US - Romania Strategic Partnership, with focus on defence cooperation, economic opportunities and people to people ties,'' the Romanian president wrote on X after the meeting.
President Dan added that the US and Romania would continue to work together to increase the security of the Black Sea region, of the Eastern Flank and of the entire Euro-Atlantic area.
Acting Foreign Minister Oana Toiu also participated in the meeting.
She previously announced on Facebook that she would discuss the Strategic Partnership and NATO 3.0 developments with members of the US Congress.
President Nicusor Dan landed in Ankara on Tuesday afternoon, the day before the NATO Summit. Nicusor Dan and Mirabela Gradinaru will attend the official reception and dinner for heads of state and government and their partners hosted by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the First Lady, Emine Erdogan.
