Iasi Airport celebrates its passenger no. 2 Million
The passenger no. 2 Million who arrived at Iasi Airport was celebrated on Wednesday in a festive setting in the new terminal.
After disembarking, passenger no. 2 Million, a lady from Onesti who arrived in Iasi from Basel (Switzerland), was led to the T4 terminal, where she received congratulations and a voucher worth 100 euros, which she will be able to use in new trips, as well as a voucher for several SPA services worth 500 RON.
For their part, the passengers who arrived on the Basel - Iasi flight were welcomed in the new terminal, in the same festive setting, and received surprises from the Airport team.
"For the second time in the history of the Airport and for the second year in a row, we have reached the traffic of two million passengers, a sign that the development vision and all the investments have yielded results. I thank all the passengers for their patience and trust that we will build the terminal T4 and because they choose to fly from Iasi. The new airport means a much better travel experience, but also a huge development opportunity for the North-East region. In the future, we will prioritize investments in the airport to achieve important objectives: to build the second photovoltaic park, to transform the current T2 terminal into a Cargo terminal, to diversify and increase the number of destinations at Iasi Airport. Together, we continue to write the beautiful story of Iasi Airport!", said Costel Alexe, the president of the Iasi County Council.
The Director of the Airport, Romeo Vatra, declared that this event is an extremely important milestone "because 2 million passengers in a calendar year is a performance that shows the degree of rapid development of Iasi Airport".
"Last year, we recorded the highest increase in traffic in Romania, and this year we remain on an upward trend, with a total number of 2.3 million passengers at the end of 2024. I am optimistic that the number of passengers will increase in Iasi in the coming years, we have the potential to develop lasting partnerships and create new air connections. At the same time, beyond these important perspectives of growth, we continue to work to be able to offer a much more pleasant travel experience to those who use our services", said Romeo Vatra.
