National Neurology Forum bringing together over 300 experts to present latest scientific advances
More than 300 experts will gather at the Palace of Parliament on Thursday and Friday for the 4th edition of the National Neurology Forum, themed 'Innovative therapies in the context of the sustainability of the healthcare system,' an event organised by the Society for the Study of Neuroprotection and Neurorehabilitation and the Romanian Society of Neurology, with the support of the Ministry of Health.
'The event will bring together over 300 participants - academicians, directors of the most important healthcare institutions, internationally renowned scientific researchers, university teaching staff, doctors, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and patient associations, while also providing a broad framework for the exchange of experience and the presentation of the latest scientific advances,' the organisers announced in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
The event, which is supported by the World Federation of Neurorehabilitation, the European Stroke Organisation, the Academy for Multidisciplinary Neurotraumatology and the European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies, aims to strengthen professional dialogue and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration in a continuously evolving medical context.
The agenda includes sessions dedicated to the most important challenges in neurology, from the management of stroke, traumatic brain injuries and neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer, Parkinson and multiple sclerosis), to innovations in neuroimaging and emerging therapies. Participants will have access to interactive workshops and case presentations designed to highlight practical solutions and modern approaches in clinical practice.
'Four years after its launch, the National Neurology Forum has reached a consolidated level of institutional and scientific maturity and today reflects an essential paradigm shift: the transition from intentions and strategies to the concrete implementation of solutions for the benefit of patients, and if we turn our attention to the main theme of this edition - innovative therapies in the context of the sustainability of the healthcare system - we can say that it is not only timely, but essentially a necessity for the future of neurology and medicine as a whole,' President of the European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies Dafin Muresanu is quoted in the press release as saying.
The debates will also focus on improving the quality of life of patients with multiple sclerosis, with specialists set to propose a series of pragmatic measures such as facilitating access to treatments through community pharmacies for therapies that do not require hospital administration. In Romania, there are over 7,500 patients with this condition.
'It is essential to accelerate the development of medical infrastructure, standardise the patient pathway and implement a functional national registry that accurately reflects the true scale of the disease in Romania, because only through an integrated and equitable approach can we ensure faster diagnosis and appropriate access to treatment for all patients,' Professor Muresanu said.
According to the organisers, another major item on the forum agenda is the management of Parkinson's disease. Discussions will focus on optimising therapeutic protocols, simplifying the patient pathway and ensuring equitable access to device-assisted therapies.
