Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025/ Romanian artists, led by violinist Alexandru Tomescu, to perform in Warsaw
AGERPRES special corespondent Dana Purgaru reports: Representatives from Romania and Poland will present the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025 in Warsaw on Thursday, which will include, according to the organizers, concerts, exhibitions, theatre, film and literature events.
The most important exhibitions of the season and the events organized in both countries on the occasion of the Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day, marked on March 3, will be announced at the Koncertowa Hall of the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
The slogan and logo of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025 will also be presented, the result of a collaboration between graphic arts students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the National University of Arts in Bucharest, supported by their teachers, according to a statement signed by the director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, Ovidiu Dajbog-Miron.
The president of the Romanian Cultural Institute, Liviu Jicman, Diana-Stefana Baciuna, secretary of state in the Romanian Ministry of Culture, Barbara Krzeska, deputy director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Ovidiu Dajbog-Miron, director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw and Natalia Mosor, director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest, will be present at the conference announcing the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025.
The conference will also be attended by directors of the most important Polish national museums involved in the implementation of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025, such as: Prof. Dr. Andrzej Szczerski, director of the National Museum in Krakow, Dr. Jacek Friedrich , director of the National Museum in Gdansk, Agata Wssowska-Pawlik, director of the International Cultural Center in Krakow and Dr. Lukasz Galusek, program director of the International Cultural Center in Krakow.
On the same day, at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, a concert will be held by Romanian violinist Alexandru Tomescu, together with pianist Adela Liculescu and soprano Alexandra Zamfira. The program includes works signed by the composers George Enescu and Henryk Wieniawski. The event will mark the public announcement of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025, the celebration of the Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day and the anniversary of 105 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day will also be marked in the capital of Romania, on the weekend of March 2-3, according to the website of the Polish Institute in Bucharest. On Saturday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m., the opening of the photo exhibition "There were three sisters and only two shirts" will take place at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in the capital, and on Sunday, from 7:00 p.m., at the Romanian Athenaeum, the Polish jazz pianist Leszek Mozdzer will give a recital.
The Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025 is organized by the Romanian Ministry of Culture together with the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, together with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, with the support of the Polish Institute in Bucharest.
The Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day entered into force on April 14, 2023 following a joint initiative of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two states at the time, Bogdan Aurescu and Zbigniew Rau, respectively.
The date of March 3 has a special symbolism in terms of bilateral relations, by evoking the signing, in Bucharest, on March 3, 1921, of the "Defensive Alliance Convention between the Kingdom of Romania and the Republic of Poland", by the two foreign ministers at the time, Take Ionescu and Eustachy Sapieha, they having the full powers and the firm support of their heads of state, King Ferdinand I and Marshal Jozef Pilsudski, a document by which the two sides undertook to provide each other with armed assistance in the event of an unprovoked attack on their eastern border, according to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
