Cotroceni consultations/ Grindeanu PSD asked the President for the mandate of Prime Minister
President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Grindeanu said on Monday, following the consultations with President Nicusor Dan, that he is the Social Democrats' nominee for the office of Prime Minister.
'The PSD, as the main party in Romania's Parliament, asked the President for the mandate of Prime Minister. I am the nominee, and this nomination was made several weeks ago. The PSD wants to be part of the solution. The PSD wants us to have a Government quickly, a Government that will carry out a budget revision and draw up this year's budget,' Grindeanu said after the talks at the Cotroceni Palace.
The new consultations are taking place in the context in which Liberal Siegfried Muresan, the third prime minister-designate in the past five months, failed to secure Parliament's vote of investiture last week. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Irinela Visan; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
