Loredana Toma wins two gold medals at European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia
Romanian athlete Loredana Elena Toma (CS Rapid Bucuresti) won two gold medals on Friday in the 71 kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia.
Toma, who last year took three gold medals at the European Championships, won the 114 kg snatch, ranking fourth in the clean and jerk with 127 kg, after missing two attempts at 131 kg. Overall, the Romanian won gold with 241 kg.
After five days of competition, Romania's medal tally is eight, including five gold medals, three won by Mihaela Cambei (49 kg), two by Loredana Toma (71 kg), in the snatch and total, one silver medal, won by Valentin Ionadi Iancu (61 kg), in the clean and jerk, and two bronze medals, one won by Ioana Madalina Miron (45 kg) in the clean and jerk, and another by Andreea Cotruta (59 kg), in the the clean and jerk.
