CS Dinamo Bucharest, national rugby champion after 15-year break

CS Dinamo Bucharest won its first national rugby championship title after a 15-year break, with a 17-13 (6-6) victory over CSM Stiinta Baia Mare, on Saturday, in the final of the National League, at the Arcul de Triumf National Rugby Stadium in downtown Bucharest.

CSM Stiinta Baia Mare had won the last four titles. Dinamo won its 17th national championship title, the previous one dating back to 2008.

Mihai Graure scored the Dinamo team's only try in the final, and Jondre Williams scored from four penalty kicks.



The points for the "bisons" (the alias of CSM Stiinta Baia Mare players, ed. n.) were scored by Mihai Lamboiu (essay) and Paul Popoaia (two penalty kicks and a conversion).



SCM USV Timisoara grabbed the bronze medals, after advancing to the small final of CSA Steaua Bucharest with a score of 26-8, right in Ghencea stadium. Lucian Muresan (SCM USV) was named the man of the match.

In the match for the 5th-6th places, CSU ELBI Cluj defeated CS Politehnica Iasi 41-9, having the best player in Paul Herman. The duel for positions 11-12 ended with the victory of RC Grivita, 29-3 with Stiinta Petrosani.AGERPRES(RO - editor: Mihai Tenea; EN - editor: Maria Voican)
