Six beaches in Mamaia, Navodari, Eforie and Olimp awarded Blue Flag eco-label for 2023
Six beaches in the seaside resorts of Mamaia, Navodari, Eforie and Olimp received the Blue Flag quality label for 2023, the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism informs.
"This year too Romania is present on the Blue Flag world map! The quality label was awarded to the following six beaches: Vega Vintage in the resort of Mamaia, Marina Regia and Phenicia - Navodari, Citadel and Azur - located in Eforie, and Phenicia Blue View - which awaits tourists in Olimp. A novelty compared to last season is that the Axxis Nova beach in Navodari is currently in the program's pilot stage, during which time it must prepare to meet the 33 mandatory and general criteria of the program that refer to ecological education, environmental information, bathing water quality, environmental management and safety and the services offered. Only in this way will it be able to apply and obtain the Blue Flag award in 2024," the Ministry's release states.
The Blue Flag program was launched in 1987, the European Year of the Environment, by the Environmental Education Foundation, as a reward for efforts to properly maintain beaches and marinas, and to encourage local public authorities and the private sector to take steps to improve the coastal area.
The Ministry of Tourism, together with the Carpathian-Danubian Center for Geoecology - CCDG, a full member of the Environmental Education Foundation, started steps to implement the program in June 2004. AGERPRES (RO - editor: Andreea Marinescu; EN - editor: Simona Klodnischi)
