Romanian firefighters are continuing their support mission in France, maintaining constant monitoring of affected areas to prevent wildfires from reigniting, according to the press Office of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).

'The national forest firefighting module continues to support the French authorities in tackling vegetation and forest fires, operating in the intervention sectors assigned by its French counterparts. Romanian firefighters were deployed to several operational sectors, where they carefully inspected areas already affected by fire to ensure there was no risk of reignition. They extinguished remaining hotspots, cooled areas with high temperatures and eliminated the risk of the fire spreading,' the source says.

Throughout the night, the Romanian firefighters remained on duty, providing continuous monitoring of their assigned sectors. Whenever active hotspots or reignitions were detected, they intervened to contain the fire and protect areas at risk.

'The Romanian module continued these operations throughout the night, with interventions constantly adapted to the evolving operational situation and the decisions of the French authorities,' IGSU reported.

The mission continues under the coordination of the French authorities within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, with Romanian firefighters working alongside their French counterparts to limit the impact of the fires and protect communities and assets located in high-risk areas.
