Lovers of visual arts are invited on Wednesday, to the opening of the "Sibiu Superangular" exhibition, in the foyer of the county public library, where they will be able to admire unique photographs of the city of Sibiu, this event being organized by the ASTRA Sibiu County Library, in partnership with the Cotroceni National Museum, AGERPRES National News Agency and the Brukenthal National Museum, informs a press release of the organizers.

The photographs taken in the 19th century can be seen at the ASTRA Library until December 4. Vintage photos of Sibiu from the historical archive of AGERPRES will also be exhibited.

"The ASTRA Sibiu County Library, in partnership with the Cotroceni National Museum, AGERPRES National News Agency and the Brukenthal National Museum, invites the public to the opening of the photography exhibition 'Sibiu Superangular', on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 14:00. The exhibition takes place from November 23 to December 4, 2022, in the foyer of the Sibiu public library, an institution whose actions are possible with funding from the Sibiu County Council. The exhibition project capitalizes on the artistic work of the photographers who immortalized the city of Sibiu, showing, over time, its cultural heritage, the identity and uniqueness of this space. A tribute brought over time to the citadel and its inhabitants, the exhibition includes a large series of photographs taken in the workshops of the time (19th century) by the pioneers of Sibiu photography: Alexander Maierhofer, Theodor Glatz, Kamilla Asboth, Gustav Albert Schivert, August Meinhardt, Rudolf Czeck, Wilhelm Auerlich, Emil Fischer," specifies the mentioned press release.

The public will also have the opportunity to admire a series of reproductions from the AGERPRES historical archive, which presents vintage pictures from the 1980s - new frames from the historic center and other areas, as well as poses of passers-by or city residents.

With the support of the Cotroceni National Museum and the ASTRA Sibiu County Library, the exhibition presents equipment and technology from the epoch, as well as specialized literature. The visual journey is completed by Alexandra Gogu's photos, who creatively captured different current instances of Sibiu and the people of Sibiu.AGERPRES(RO - author: Isabela Paulescu, editor: Marius Fratila; EN - author: Simona Iacob, editor: Maria Voican)
