Blockchain technology offers both incredible potential and new challenges in terms of regulation and enforcement, and as this technology becomes more complex, we need skilled people who understand it, National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) Director General Adrian-Victor Vevera told the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB) 2025 on Thursday.
'Today, blockchain technology offers both incredible potential and new challenges in regulation and enforcement. At the opening of this forum, I hope the following three main ideas will help shape the discussions throughout the day. First, we must invest in research and development to establish standards for blockchain intelligence and data sharing. We need to create clear ways for blockchain data to be shared between public and private organisations. This cooperation will enhance transparency and help us make better decisions in business, law enforcement and regulation. We can build on existing work to make this happen. Secondly, it's important to develop training programmes together based on independently tested and verifiable standards. As blockchain technology becomes more complex, we need qualified people who understand it,' said Vevera.
The official also noted that during this year's edition of DISB, the institution he leads entered a historic public-private partnership with ChainArgos, a company specialised in blockchain intelligence, to develop training programmes and software solutions aimed at enhancing the capabilities of stakeholders in both the public and private sectors in Romania.
'The Blockchain Intelligence Academy aims to provide training in service of truth, as we believe it's essential to develop and deliver strong, evidence-based education that enables professionals across various areas to effectively use blockchain intelligence. Thirdly, we are creating an innovative and proven profession and invite all stakeholders to participate. We want to establish this profession within the European framework of skills, qualifications and occupations, as blockchain intelligence requires specialist expertise in areas such as technology, law and data analysis - skills that need to be recognised. By establishing blockchain intelligence as a recognised profession, we can set high standards and contribute to a safer digital world,' Vevera pointed out.
This week (April 8-11), ICI Bucharest is organising a new edition of the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB) at the Palace of Parliament. This year's event brings together over 200 speakers from more than 30 countries.
The summit agenda features five key conferences: the 8th edition of the Forum for the Critical Infrastructures Protection (CIP Forum), the 4th International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy (ICCD), the 20th International Conference on Virtual Learning (ICVL), the 23rd National Conference on Virtual Education (CNIV) and the first-ever Blockchain Intelligence Forum.
