USR's Fritz: Russia is striking precisely where Romania builds its defence

Image

National leader of the Save Romania Union (USR) Dominic Fritz on Tuesday said that the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) has confirmed that the September explosion at Carfil Brasov, a branch of the Romarm, was part of a coordinated sabotage action in the Russian Federation. He criticised the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) for condemning this action only now, saying that the party had previously avoided denouncing the hybrid war waged by Russia against Romania.

'Don't worry: AUR 'strongly condemns any coordinated sabotage action by the Russian Federation against Romania's strategic objectives.' The same AUR that, when a Russian drone hit a block of flats in Galati, was waiting for the 'expert report' to convict the aggressor. The report came. The conviction is not. In short: the September fire at Carfil Brasov, Romarm branch, was not an accident. SRI confirmed yesterday a coordinated sabotage from Russia. Two of the executioners were also caught in Germany, the third is wanted in Poland. Russia is striking precisely where Romania builds its defence,' Fritz wrote in a social media post.

Fritz added that the incident on the Carfil platform is not an isolated one, mentioning, in this context, the drones that enter the Romanian airspace.

'Drones in our airspace. Sabotage in the defence industry. Millions of fake accounts that repeat, in dozens of variants, 'Russia is not my enemy' and that turn us against each other. And it is precisely the self-styled patriots and sovereign proclaimers, worried about foreign interference, who have been silent for years when it came to Russia's hybrid war against Romania,' Fritz also wrote.

He added that, 'if AUR found out only today who the aggressor is, the next step is simple, not to carry forward the Kremlin's messages,' if it truly supports Romania's interests.

The Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terror (DIICOT) and SRI announced on Monday having documented the criminal activity of three foreign citizens (two Belarusians and one Ukrainian) residing in EU states, members of a coordinated sabotage network in the Russian Federation, involved in the explosion inside the Carfil industrial platform in Brasov, a subsidiary of Romarm.

SRI, together with DIICOT, the Ministry of National Defence - the General Directorate of Defence Intelligence and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, continue the verifications into the sabotage operations identified in Romania.

AUR strongly condemns the intrusion of the Russian Federation against strategic facilities, calling on President Nicusor Dan, the Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) and the Niculescu government to explain how such an incident was possible, if there were security breaches and what measures were taken, AUR said on Tuesday.
