BCC2026/DNSC's Cimpean: We need solutions and reliable technology partners to manage cyber risks
We are living in extremely interesting times, in which we need solutions and strong, reliable technology partners to help us manage cyber risks and incidents,' Director of the Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) Dan Cimpean said on Wednesday at the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference (BCC2026).
'We are living in extremely interesting times. Times in which we need solutions, we need reliable and strong technology partners to help us manage risks, incidents and cyber attacks - a very sophisticated and very complicated mix of technological challenges, malicious actors and all the inherent complexity of today's world. That is why I am extremely pleased that we have the opportunity to discuss this particular subject very directly and openly. One of my objectives, to put it very directly, in my role as director of the DNSC, is to make sure that we make these solutions known on the market and that we have access to them (...). My objective is to make sure that we capitalise on these things and that we have access to them,' Cimpean said.
The DNSC head added that Romania needs an extremely strong public-private partnership in order to manage its national networks, applications and platforms.
'Honestly, and I am now speaking on behalf of Romania's National Cyber Security Directorate, we need these solutions. We are facing, even as we speak, an impressive volume of cyber attacks against our national critical infrastructure. Let us not forget that most of our national infrastructure is operated and managed by the private sector. That means many networks, many applications and many platforms. Therefore, by design, we need an extremely strong public-private partnership to manage them,' Dan Cimpean underscored.
The Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC), together with Bitdefender, is organising the 2026 edition of the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference (BCC2026) from 20 to 22 October, a landmark event for international dialogue on cybersecurity.
The conference is supported by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), the National Coordination Centre (NCC-RO) and the National Association for Information Systems Security (ANSSI).
