City changing technologies, projects, ideas on display at Smart City Highlights - Politehnica Bucharest
The responsible use of artificial intelligence in public administration, digitalisation of services and access to funds for digital transformation, cybersecurity, smart urban mobility and the use of autonomous robots in communities will be addressed at the second edition of Smart City Highlights, an event organised on Wednesday, October 7 , by Politehnica Bucharest.
This year's edition will include thematic workshops, applied sessions and discussions dedicated to the main directions of development for communities.
Smart City Highlights brings together representatives of the academia, researchers, specialists, companies and administrations, in a dialogue about how technology can respond to real challenges of cities.
From mobility and infrastructure to energy, digitalisation, safety and resource management, the event discusses solutions that can change the way we live and move. The smart city is not only technology, but also a better way to meet the needs of those who live in it.
That is why Smart City Highlights is said to create a space where ideas and technologies developed in universities and companies can be seen from the perspective of their application in everyday life. At the 2026 edition, the event will bring to the fore technologies, projects and ideas that shape the cities of the future, and also the people who are already working on their transformation.
Participants will also be able to discover how research and innovation can become actual solutions to problems such as traffic, energy consumption, urban mobility or resource efficiency.
At Smart City Highlights, discussions will start from actual challenges faced by today's cities and will pursue solutions that can be applied in communities.
The event will also discuss sustainable cities, from the choice of materials for more efficient buildings and smart air conditioning systems to waste management and the circular economy, as well as solutions by which technology can contribute to reducing inequalities and better access to resources for urban communities.
