Art Safari New Museum has announced its second exhibition season of 2026, which will run from September 18 to December 20 at 13 Amzei Street, unveiling a series of major exhibitions, including 'Brancusi and His Muses', curated by Doina Lemny; 'War and Peace', dedicated to the relationship between conflict and peace throughout history; and 'Pop Art: A World in Colour', an exploration of the vibrant universe of the Pop Art movement, from its origins to the present day.

'The Brancusi Year brings us the honour of collaborating with Doina Lemny, one of the world's foremost experts on Brancusi's work, on the exhibition 'Brancusi and His Muses' a a unique project made possible thanks to the generosity of private collectors and partner museums that have granted us access to works rarely displayed to the public. 'War and Peace' is an exhibition that speaks directly to us: a journey through the way Romanian art history has recorded conflict and the fragility of peace. At the opposite end of the spectrum, 'Pop Art: A World in Colour' brings the energy, colour and rebellious spirit of one of the 20th century's most revolutionary artistic movements, from Andy Warhol and Keith Haring to Damien Hirst. Three directions, three eras, three ways of looking at the world. The exhibitions:
- Museum Pavilion: 'Brancusi and His Muses', curated by Doina Lemny

Visitors are invited to explore the intimate world of Constantin Brancusi and his relationships with women - artists, writers, dancers and gallery owners who visited his Paris studio, including Baroness Renee Irana Frachon (the model for Sleeping Muse), Margit Pogany (the model for Miss Pogany), Lizica and Irina Codreanu, artist and writer Nancy Cunard, poet Mina Loy, dancers Marthe Lebherz, Florence Meyer and Marina Chaliapin, and the sculptor's final partner, British-born pianist Vera Moore. They became his friends, lovers and inspirational muses during one of the most creative periods of his life.

The exhibition features an exceptional collection of Brancusi's photographs, films, correspondence, posters, personal documents and, above all, objects such as dresses and jewellery belonging to his muses, alongside some of his most emblematic sculptures.

In a world premiere, the exhibition presents 40 original Brancusi photographs, recently identified by Doina Lemny and held in the collection of the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca.

- International Pavilion: Pop Art: A World in Colour
Presented as part of the Freedom 250 programme organised by the Embassy of the United States of America in Bucharest, the exhibition traces the remarkable evolution of Pop Art from its origins in post-war America to its global influence today.

The exhibition follows the movement through Andy Warhol's 'Factory', Roy Lichtenstein's comic book-inspired universe, and the explosive artistic voices of Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. It then crosses the Atlantic to examine Nouveau Realisme, Europe's distinctive response to Pop Art, which transformed urban debris into poetic critiques of modern life, before culminating with works by a new generation of artists who have continued Warhol's legacy. Contemporary artists including Takashi Murakami and Damien Hirst demonstrate how Pop Art has become a global visual language in the 21st century.

- Historical Pavilion: War and Peace
Created in partnership with the National Museum of Romanian History, the exhibition is a visual essay on the strange and relentless nature of humanity, exploring how violence has, for centuries, been invested with meaning, glory and necessity, while peace - despite being ideologically celebrated - has remained only an episodic and fragile condition in history.

The reference to Tolstoy's novel serves both as a point of departure and as a direct expression of these two fundamental human states, illustrated throughout Romanian art history - from Trajan's Column and Romantic depictions of legendary national battles to the horrors of the First World War and the class struggle portrayed in Communist propaganda.

- Interactive Pavilion: The New Climate: Are We Ready?
The exhibition begins with a simple paradox: although we know more than ever about extreme weather, this knowledge rarely translates into practical action when such events occur.

Through interactive experiences and simulations based on real-life situations, visitors are challenged to discover how prepared they truly are to deal with extreme weather events, developing not merely a theoretical understanding but practical awareness of today's climate-related risks.

Temporary Exhibition Pavilion: Cristian Mungiu - Fjord: Photographs (September 18 - November 1)
'Preparing a film is, for me, the happiest part of the entire filmmaking process. It is the time when I am free to wander through wonderful places and strike up conversations with all kinds of people under the pretence that I am working. During those periods I take many photographs - not only for the film that will eventually reach the cinema, but also for the most wonderful film of all: my own life making films. I have not yet managed to tell that story as it deserves, but for now I begin with these photographs taken during our research for Fjord. Each is accompanied by countless memories and stories that I hope one day to share with you,' Cristian Mungiu says of the exhibition.

- Temporary Exhibition Pavilion: The Art of Enjoying Lunch (September 18 - October 18)
This exhibition explores the paradoxes of modern life and how an everyday gesture can become a genuine expression of the joy of living. Inspired by an initiative from the Edenred brand, the exhibition becomes a cultural reflection on a moment too often sacrificed: the lunch break.

Through installations occupying two contrasting spaces - representing before and after lunch - visitors embark on a 'Lunch Safari', an exploration of Romanians' habits and contradictions regarding time, work and food.

The exhibition offers a contemporary portrait of life in Romania and invites visitors to see lunch not merely as a meal, but as a state of mind and an essential anchor for well-being.

The exhibitions can also be explored through guided tours designed for students, senior citizens and the general public.

The new season also marks the launch of a programme of special events, including Brunch at the Museum, The Art of Yoga, and Art, Bubbles & Desserts workshops, combining art with relaxation and memorable experiences.

Art Safari New Museum is held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan. It is organised by the Art Society Cultural Centre, a public-benefit foundation, with the support of the Sector 1 City Hall.
