Dozens of Romanian athletes to compete in World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan

Dozens of athletes will represent Romania at a new edition of the World Nomad Games, which will take place in Kyrgyzstan, August 30 - September 7, the Democratic Union of Tartars (UDT) informed on Thursday.

At this year's competition, the Romanian delegation consists of 70 people, the largest ever, with Romanian athletes competing with athletes from all continents.

'After the resounding success in 2024 in Astana (Kazakhstan), where our delegation of 40 athletes made the tricolour flag shine, ranking Romania on an amazing 9th place out of 89 participating countries (in a competition with over 5,000 athletes), this year the bar rises even higher. Romania will be represented in Kyrgyzstan by an impressive delegation of 70 people, made up of elite athletes, coaches and extraordinary children who have qualified through hard work, talent and a pure passion for traditional sports,' according to UDT.

This participation is said to underline a remarkable evolution of traditional sports in Romania, with the 70-strong delegation being the largest in the history of Romania's participation in this world event.

'Romanian athletes will compete against thousands of participants from all continents, carrying on the exceptional performance of 2024 and consolidating our country's position in the world top of ethnosports. The performances so far demonstrate not only the rigour of the training, but also the deep dedication of our young people, who become true cultural and sports ambassadors of Romania in the international arena,' according to UDT.
