MApN: Romania will reconfirm in Ankara committment to consolidate Euro-Atlantic security and active allied role
Acting Defence Minister Radu Miruta will, on the sidelines of the Alliance Summit in Ankara, attend the NATO Security and Defence Industry Forum (NSDIF) and a meeting of defence ministers from Allied states with partners from the Indo-Pacific region.
According to a Defence Ministry press release, Radu Miruta and the Chief of the Defence Staff are part of Romania's delegation to the summit, taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday and led by President Nicusor Dan.
The meeting's agenda includes assessing progress in implementing decisions adopted at the Hague Summit, strengthening collective defence, increasing defence investment, developing the defence industry and continuing support for Ukraine, the ministry said.
'On the sidelines of the Summit, the Minister of National Defence will attend the NATO Security and Defence Industry Forum (NSDIF), an event dedicated to strengthening cooperation among Allies to develop defence industrial capabilities, accelerate production and promote innovation in the sector. Romania will be represented by delegations from the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism and companies from the national defence industry,' the press release said.
Minister Miruta will also attend a meeting of defence ministers from Allied states with partners from the Indo-Pacific region (Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea), as well as a reception for defence ministers from NATO member states.
The second day of the summit will focus on the meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of heads of state and government.
During the summit, the Chief of the Defence Staff will present Romania's military priorities for strengthening NATO's deterrence and defence posture on the Eastern Flank, with a focus on the Black Sea region, as well as the continued adaptation of force structures and capabilities required to implement Allied decisions.
