'CNapSys' robotics team wins first prize for robot design at international competition in US
The 'CNapSys' robotics team from the National College 'Silvania' in Zalau won First Prize for Robot Design on Wednesday, during the opening day of the international 'Cowtown Invitational Premier Event' competition held in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
In addition to the trophy awarded for aesthetics and attention to detail, the young team from Salaj, representing Romania at this prestigious event, secured three victories from their four official matches played on the competition field in the opening round.
'Our joy was even greater when we received First Prize for the most beautiful robot, a recognition of the creativity, attention to detail and passion we invested in every stage of its development,' the team members said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
According to the team, the official rounds helped them refine their strategies and strengthen their team spirit.
Their opening-day achievement was complemented by successfully passing the rigorous technical inspection and completing the judges' interview, during which the students presented their technical progress throughout the season and the team's core values.
The 'Cowtown Invitational Premier Event' is an international robotics competition organised under the 'FIRST Tech Challenge' format, bringing together 48 elite teams from around the world.
The event is designed as an experience similar to a World Championship, offering young people the opportunity to compete at the highest technological level in an environment focused on innovation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Members of the 'CNapSys' team arrived in Texas at the beginning of this week following intensive preparation supported by the local community, sponsors, mentors, teachers and parents.
The representatives of Salaj County will now continue with the remaining official qualification matches, with each team scheduled to play a total of eight, as they pursue a place in the later stages of the competition in the United States.
