Sports commentator Ilie Dobre has set a new world record, the 11th of his career, acknowledged by the World Record Academy, for the 'longest broadcast of a goal without breathing', this time set at 42.3 seconds.

Dobre's performance was recorded on April 25 at the Steaua - Corvinul Hunedoara match, in the Second League, played at the stadium on Ghencea Boulevard in Bucharest.

'Mr. Ilie Dobre, former sports commentator at Radio Romania, now working at prosport.ro, had a goal broadcast lasting 42.3 seconds during the football match between Steaua Bucharest and Corvinul Hunedoara, on April 25, 2026, played at the Steaua Stadium in Bucharest, in the Romanian Second League (6th stage of the play-offs). He set the new world record for the longest goal broadcast without breathing,' according to an article published on the official website of the World Record Academy.

In an interview posted on the Academy's website, Ilie Dobre stated that doctor Ion Tintoiu told him before setting this record that he had assumed a very high risk.

'The renowned cardiologist, world-class specialist, Prof. Dr. Ion Tintoiu, from the Central Military Hospital in Bucharest, upon hearing my goal of over 42 seconds, without breathing, said that I had unconsciously assumed an incredible risk, because I had exceeded the human biological limit approximately three times,' Dobre said.

This is the 11th record set by Romanian commentator Ilie Dobre, his previous performance being 35 seconds and 6 tenths.
