Parliament - Budget 2026: PM Bolojan says budget introduces citizen-fair approach
The 2026 budget introduces a new approach that is fair to citizens, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Friday.
'I would like to thank all MPs who voted for the budget. It introduces a new approach, one that is fair to citizens. I also want to tell Romanians that all the reforms carried out so far - administrative reform, the reform of special pensions and spending cuts in public institutions - are reflected in this budget. It also serves as a safeguard against unwanted slippages,' Ilie Bolojan said after Parliament adopted the 2026 draft state budget and the state social insurance budget.
He stressed that the government must continue working to strengthen Romania, given the international context.
The draft state budget law for 2026 was adopted on Friday by the joint plenary of Parliament, with 319 votes 'in favour', 104 'against' and one abstention. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Florea; EN - writing by: Simona Iacob)
