Foreign Ministry announces 250 Romanians returned to Romania from UAE
Two flights from Dubai landed on Thursday at Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest, carrying a total of 250 Romanians who returned to the country from the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced.
The first flight, operated by FlyDubai, landed at 00:17, with 138 Romanian passengers on board.
The second flight, also operated by FlyDubai, arrived at 08:30, carrying 112 Romanian passengers, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release.
Another aircraft departed from Dubai earlier today bound for Bucharest.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that 744 of the Romanian citizens affected by the significant deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East who had requested consular assistance have returned to the country.
The crisis cell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Romania's diplomatic missions and consular offices in the region, remains in contact with Romanian citizens affected by the conflict in the Middle East, as well as with the authorities of the states in the region, and will continue to provide assistance and consular protection, prioritising the safety of citizens, depending on the evolution of the security situation.
MAE brings to mind that a series of recommendations can be accessed at https://www.mae.ro/node/68212.
The Foreign Ministry recommends systematically checking the information provided by airlines, both on their official websites and via SMS or email, depending on the options selected in relation to the airline operator. Citizens are also advised to check whether they have received rescheduled tickets for affected flights and to continuously follow the instructions communicated by the airlines. Travellers are advised to go to the airport only when notified and called by airline representatives. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Catalina Matei; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
